This is not a place for work or conversation. It is incredibly loud and you can't even hear yourself speak. In all fairness, it is a bar, but there are so many other places that you can go for Happy Hour that have a better selection of happy hour cocktails and beverage choices that you can actually have conversations with the members of your party.
Went for Sunday brunch. A great atmosphere with a lovely patio. The inside is large and can accommodate groups. A little pricy if you don't want to drink, but reasonable if you get the specials that come with a Mimosa or Cesar. The food is very good though there are very few Gluten-free choices.
This place was pretty terrible. The space is Ok, large for New York, but the service is horrible. Took 20 minutes for them to take our order. Once the food arrived the order was missing an entire entree.
Foods good, if a bit unoriginal, no complaints but no great applause either, more of a drinking spot than an eating spot with some nice comfort food. Would have gone 3 stars but the service is terrible, really slow. There not so much rude as busy and a bit indifferent. I suspect they get so much business from the high line they can afford to be dismissive, but there nowhere near good enough or hip enough to justify this attitude. Maybe I'm being harsh as I guess there true to their name, be ready to be treated like Half a King more than a full King.
I always liked this place. Once in a while you will get a special you like as well. Drinks are good. Also it is a very convenient location off of the high line. Great place to meet friends and hang out.
Came here for a company event. Great cheerful and fast service
Regular average bar. It's nice but there's nothing that really sets it apart from the other generic dive bars except that it's cleaner. Staff are nice. Drinks are more expensive than the usual bar. Food is really delicious but pretty expensive.
Great food, okay drink specials. However, the service was AWFUL. The waiter literally walked up to our table and just stared at us without saying anything, like do you want us to just tell you what we want, do you even work here or what are you even doing? He checked on us once, and was nowhere to be seen for several minutes at a time, so we had to actually leave our table to go to the bar to order more drinks. If you like being ignored maybe this is the place for you, but if not, probably don’t waste your time.
Turkey sandwich was pretty good. Great french fries! Not the best service though.. sat for a while before I was greeted by a server.
Great food and good prices. The service was a little slow.
Sadly, no mas. Good times at this venue for many years. Hoping the replacement for this stalwart dive bar is 1/2 as good as the King was.
Sad to see it go, but they did their own grave after taking the chili dogs of the menu. Rest easy, Half King.
Great nieghborhood Bar...people are very friendly.....food is good...great crowd....
Great place to grab some drinks and apps and chat with friends!
I was pleased with my order. The service could have been better. CB from GA
Had a good time here. Food was delicious. The bar was packed, but we got a seat within a reasonable amount of time. The bar was a fun experience!
This place has great food that is reliable. It is great for groups and I have had a few parties here over the years.
Overpriced but it's not alone. It seems like everything in Chelsea is expensive so it's probably a result of the environment. Good burgers and service is friendly, to be expected for a pub.
Always fun, great happy hour cocktailsMenu could be expanded but they do a good job- service always great- thank uStarted going here YEARS ago-
Another great bar in Chelsea that is literally steps from the high line. The daytime bartenders are amazing! Crowd is mainly artists (many galleries nearby) and tourists. Good selection of on tap bar and the food is on point.UPDATE! THE BAR HAS CLOSED. WAS GOOD WHILE IT LASTED
Great bistro reasonably priced. Nice selection of beers and a very comfortable atmosphere.
Food is so freaking good. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is chill. Would suggest to anyone!
Great place in the 'hood to grab a drink. The area at the back is really nice, go there if you can
Great happy hour, super cool bartenders. Down to earth. Right off the high line.
Great pub in a great location. Cold beer, not too loud, and clean bathrooms. Can't ask for much more.
So - first we had nachos which were pretty much what I'd expect to get at the ballpark while attending a game. However, the salads (main meal) came out next, and they were outstanding. I had the chopped Kale salad, and I would actually go out of my way to have it again. It was THAT good. Plus, this is a great location to sit outside and watch the people go by.
I was a bit conflicted on this one. On one hand, the drinks were pretty good and pretty decently priced. When we ordered some jalapeno poppers, we waited well over an hour until we got them, but in the meantime we got a bunch of free drinks. So, depends on what you're looking for! I can't complain, personally.
They let you have your dog on the sidewalk patio and even have water bowls. Food is average, the tater tots are quite good. Staff is always friendly. Brunch includes a mimosa or bloody mary or kir Royale (black currant liqueur wit champagne). Pretty good deal. They also have a small "garden" patio out back which gives you the benefits of being outside without the traffic noise and high line tourists of the sidewalk patio.
Friendly local place closing at the end of January 2019. Get there now while you still can.
Nice bar but boring atmosphere.
watch soccer. great draft beer. atmosphere is cozy, built from reclaimed wood from Pennsylvania farms.
1. This smallest cocktail costs 12$!!! Ice takes more than half a glass. Does ice so expensive this winter in NYC?! 😡2. My meal was missing potatoes (as per menu) and instead of potatoes I got the hole plate of greens. 3. Manager was kind of mean during conversation!!!
Have a soft spot for this as used to live near. Just a great comfy pub. Was there before the neighborhood was mobbed with comfy pubs. I'm glad this one survived.
Great place. Good service, friendly. The Backyard Cafe is not good for a hot day and has no ambiance.
Nice West Chelsea, down to earth bar. Well poured Guinness.
Just OK. Burger wasn't the best but it wasn't bad. The bun was kinda soft and crumbly, which I'm not a huge fan on. Beer was good but a little flat. Not a long wait, service was passable but not special. Just OK.
The food was reasonable. There is a nice selection of drinks. A few beers. The service was good and efficient. Even beyond. A nice place to stop in the middle of High Line for a break.
Old school place for B&B ( Beer and Burger ) great for sitting outside
Great dive bar system below the highlife. Seats outside & a good menu. Highly Recommended. 😎😗🚴
Perfect for an afternoon lunch and break from the July heat! Edgar the bartender was so nice to chat with & the burger was delicious!!
Too quiet for me but a nice spot.
Great burgers and the downeast cider on tap is excellent. We will definitely be back
Good food! It was a unique place to eat after visiting the high line in NYC! Casual dress! Wait staff was pleasant and accommodating!
Great bloody Mary start to the day. Wonderful Chelsea bar. Friendly vibe.
Came here on a Tuesday night around 9pm with a group of 6 and was able to find a table. It was quite lively for a weeknight, and some brave souls were even out on the patio despite the rather chilly conditions (but I'm speaking as a visiting Californian so take that how you will). We just ordered a round of beers and some snacks to accompany them--they were having a special of mushroom quesadillas and they turned out to be surprisingly good! I'm always amazed when I run across decent Mexican-style fare in NY. Our server was on the ball and we all had a very nice time.
Good happy hour, traditional pub kind of place. Always a fun time.
The location of this place is what I'd say drives business. The last 2 times I ate here was on a Sunday and it was very busy and the servers didn't seem overly interested in pleasantries. When I requested a spicy bloody mary - I was told the mix is one mix. Huh?Fingers on my glass rim as drinks were delivered. Burger was good enough. Wish the staff cared more.
Quaint setup. They have a few 3 rooms and a back patio. Haven't tried the food, but the beer is a decent selection of craft beers
Watery drinks full of ice and very little alcohol. Hummus was bland and was pink in colour. The pita was dry. Calmari rings were under seasoned and served with some sweet sauce /salsa.
4/22/18 update: WE ARE NO LONGER ORDERING FOOD HERE.We ordered the fish and chips for $17, we got two (2) fish sticks and a handful of fries. Really? Two fish sticks? Ridiculous. My GF was speechless. See photo, please. We come here every now and then. It can be hit & miss. Tonight was a hit, two Turkey burgers and two beers. Our server was nice and brought my gf a couple of beer samples due to the two beers listed on the chalk board (she wanted) were out. (They should have been wiped off the board... That's why it's chalk!) Anyway, happy hour is 4-8 every day, $5 drafts, that's the best part ... Anything after that is a bonus.
